Victims’ Rights
It can be very confusing to navigate the numerous information sites available on the Internet - not to mention the various hard copy sources - regarding your rights as a victim of an impaired driving crash. With that in mind, we have pulled together some of the most reputable sources of information for you here.
On March 16, 2007, the announcement of the establishment of a new office for a Federal Ombudsman for Victims of Crime was made in Toronto by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, and the Minister of Public Safety.
The Federal Ombudsman for Victims of Crime will be appointed to ensure the federal government meets its legislative and policy commitments; to promote access to existing government programs and services; and to identify and explore systematic and emerging victim issues. The Ombudsman will operate at arm’s length from the Department of Justice and the Department of Public Safety.
