2009 - 2010 Volunteer Board of Directors
Mary Sultana, President
Mary joined MADD Toronto in November 2002, after the tragic loss of her husband, Alfred Sultana, in an impaired driving crash. The then Board of Directors quickly recognized her commitment level, skills and dedication and she was elected to the Board as Co-President in June 2003. After 2 successful terms in this role, she was elected as President of the Chapter in June 2007.
Carolyn Swinson, Past President and Director of Victim Services
Carolyn joined MADD Toronto in 1993 after the tragic losses of both her father, Scot Buxton, and her eldest son, Rob Swinson, in two separate impaired driving crashes. Carolyn has served 3 terms as Co-President/President of MADD Toronto and was also honoured to serve as MADD Canada National President from 1999-2001. She has received a Volunteer Award from the City of Toronto, the Ministry of Transport’s Road Safety Achievement Award, and has also received a Governor General’s Caring Canadian award and a Queen’s Jubilee Medal for all of her time and hard work put in on MADD Canada’s behalf. She currently serves as Vice Chair on the MADD Canada National Board of Directors.
Joyce Westlake,Treasurer
Joyce vowed to become involved with MADD Canada after her 19-year-old son, Andrew, was struck down and killed instantly by an impaired driver in the fall of 1995. By the summer of 1996, Joyce had joined MADD Toronto’s Board of Directors as Treasurer, a position which she continues in today. She has also served 2 years as Co-President of MADD Toronto, and currently serves on the MADD Canada National Board as well.
Tanya Kolenko - Director-at-Large, R.I.D.E. Coordinator
Tanya began volunteering with MADD Toronto Chapter in September 2007. Years ago, her family physician was killed by an impaired driver. Consequently, Tanya wanted to raise awareness about impaired driving while conducting school appearances, RIDE spot checks and community events. Tanya is very community oriented and is active with the York Regional Police volunteer program. Due to continual dedication to MADD Toronto Chapter, Tanya was elected to join MADD Toronto’s Board of Directors in June 2009 and was recently appointed R.I.D.E. Coordinator.

Lorna Killam, Chapter Administrative Assistant
Lorna is proud to be working in an organization whose mission she believes in, and to be part of a dedicated team who are tireless in their efforts to deliver MADD Canada’s message. Lorna is particularly passionate about educating our youth around making positive life choices. Lorna joined the chapter in July, 2009.
